Musubi
Okay, I don't know if this is what it is called in Japanese but I learned about it from some friends that lived in Hawaii for a long time. They are these great little nori (seaweed) sandwiches (for lack of a better word) with rice and various fillings. The one I went for was the Spam and egg version so that my first try would not be a complete surprise. It was very yummy and I am definitely going back for more, as soon as I can figure out what are in the other versions (meaning I need to learn my Japanese). You can get them at the local convenience stores. You warm them up in the microwave (they'll even do it for you at the store if you want). I am so happy to have found these and now I have another little thing I can eat without feeling too bad on the run if I have to.
This is mine in the picture on one of my sushi plates with my tea in the background...yummy lunch all around and Popi, I am getting in some Spam...our hidden family secret...haha.

Interesting. I wonder what kind of other fillings there are.
Not my cup of tea, but glad you found a local snack!
My grandma used to make me fried spam sandwiches in the motor home when I travelled with them as a kid. I thought it was tasty.
