You Have To Wonder

Last week, when N Korea test fired missiles into the Sea of Japan, commentators and analysts all agreed that it was a grab for attention because so much attention was going to Iran and the war in Iraq/Afghanistan, and not to N Korea.

So now, I am wondering, with the issues that have developed this weekend between Israel and their neighbors and how much coverage it is getting, should we be expecting N Korea to test fire again soon so that the attention will move back in their direction?

That will be interesting to see if that is so. I feel for Japan, as they really have to depend on others to defend themselves, because of the treaty after WW2. I would have blown the missile out of the air as a warning if it was aimed near my country. Unfortunately, Japan does not have the ability to do that. Come on China, put the pressure on.....

The missile test fires were specifically on the 4th of July to make a statement. Previous to those, they hadn't test-fired any for several years. The history of the shut-down of communication between the US and N. Korea as a result of Bush including N. Korea in his 'axis of evil' is very interesting. I'm hoping we'll get a more reasonable President before this becomes a true crisis issue.
