After weeks and weeks of pain in the ass tactics, my mother finally received the Ipod Nano that I got her for her birthday in November. Amazon had to send it twice to get it there. A month later, the first one they sent (which we assumed had been stolen since it wasn't insured) arrived and she sent it to me to deal with (which is what I told her to do).
Starting in January, I have been emailing Amazon to get a return label sent to me so I can return this item to them (since they didn't charge me for the second one to be sent, it would be stealing to keep this one). They promptly wrote back that a return label would be in the mail.....
It is now March and I still don't have a return label. I emailed them a third time this morning to see if they can get on the ball...

grrrr.... amazon's service has been less than stellar for me, too, although only recently. still waiting on a book that i ordered 2 months ago that they said would be delivered in 10 days.
I'd say if they don't respond this time, keep the iPod. You've made a good faith effort to return it. Keep copies of the email to prove your efforts and enjoy the tunes on your new toy!
I agree with Sprite, if they do not follow through, enjoy the Ipod. If they down the road ask for it back - you can always send it to them - USED. You can tell them you field tested it and it works perfectly.LOL
Remember, time is money and they have already wasted your time. I am sure it has added up to and Ipod by now...
How mauch can one do? It isn't as if you've made no attempt.
Kind of in their court and maybe you timeline yourself as to when you keep it or give it away?
I am surprised! I have been a huge Amazon customer since 1998 and I have only had great experiences and fast deliveries. The one item that I had to return (my fault, ordered wrong item), they sent me the return information quickly and I returned without incidence. Sorry for your problems! I recommend Amazon to everyone. That is where I got the MacBook I am typing this on today.
Don't get me wrong...I LOVE amazon, I am just amazed that getting them to send a return label for something that they sent me for free and I would assume the want back would be easier than this. In fact pretty much everytime they have sent a duplicate of something out (which is a great customer service thing BTW) there is some kind of glitch. They either credit me (which is the same as giving it to me free) or they don't send the labels....
I did get an email from them and if I don't get a label in the mail this time, I am done. I have too many other things on my plate right now to be worrying about this silly thing.
