FAQs

I found this cool site today by accident called FAQ Farm...you should check it out if you have time. They are developing (growing) an FAQ site and people can ask or answer questions there to help the project. I ended up there while finding a e-card for someone and you can click on the "answer question" link and just read questions that have been asked and answer one if you want. You don't have to be an expert and you don't have to log in (unless you want your answers to have your name associated with them). I just answered a question from a 16 year old girl that wants to get pregnant and who's boyfriend is okay with it...she wanted to know what to do.

Please tell me you told her to wait at least 5 years. :)

I told her that she has a lot of honest thinking to do. She has to figure out what she wants from her future and if that future can happen with a kid at 16. I asked her why she wants a baby so young.

It was weird because after posting this I went back and looked at the pregnancy catagory just for sh!ts and giggles and there were tons, and tons of 14-16 year olds asking about getting pregnant, how you could get pregnant, if you should, if your parents could force you to move out and all sorts of things. I was really surprised at how young and uninformed they all were...sad really that they don't all have higher goals for themselves, like finishing high school at least. Parenting can wait until later...

Well since so many schools teach abstinence only now, I don't think they do get a lot of good information. At the school I taught at, the nice little church ladies came in wearing their Sunday best and talked about sharing your heart and how everytime you have sex it is taking a piece of your heart blah blah blah. I could've died right there. I had a class of 28, and only 1 had the original set of parents she started out life with. For the girl lecture which I also sat in on, they talk about the biology of puberty but nothing else beyond that.
