Utterly Ridiculous

I found a cache yesterday inside one of these...

Example of a pinecone microcache currently being sold on Ebay.

hidden inside one of these.

This is actually a nicer one, the one I was in has a lot of deciduous trees so there are leaves all over the ground too.

Are all microcaches like that? That's crazy.

No, usually they are just film containers or hide a key containers but I guess there is a new breed out that are supposed to be super-disquised. There are bolts, pinecones, fake rocks, acorns, golfballs, etc.

Personally I think it is a bit overboard. It is supposed to be fun, not totally frustrating.

Wow I didn't think that people were actually using those. How the hell did you find it???

I actually assumed that it would be tied off so that it wouldn't end up disappearing but it wasn't. It was just sitting there completely untethered.

I found it by zeroing in on the coordinates and then turning over all the pinecones I could see. Fortunately the coordinates were pretty good and I already had an idea that it was going to be in a pinecone from the logs, things like "tricky", or "I have seen this before", kind of told me that it was unusual.
