The Summer of Goodbyes (or See You Laters)

I just had to say goodbye to a second friend tonight. We had bunco first and then afterwards I had to say goodbye since I can't go to the airport to see her off tomorrow. We lost one friend earlier this summer and now S is on her way tomorrow.

Even though I have only known her for about 11 months, she is one of my closest friends. She has to be the nicest person I have ever met. I don't know that I have ever heard her say anything bad about anyone. She is one of those people that you feel like you have known forever and super close to within only a short while. She has a great family and I am sure they will be very happy in their new home but she will be sorely missed here. It won't be the same.

We all say that we aren't saying goodbye because this world is a small place and we'll get to see one another again, so I guess I will just say see you later for now.....but it doesn't make the ache in the heart any less.

Your world has many goodbyes because of the nature of it, but you get many hello's back too! Your dear friends will remain so even if you do not see them for a long time...I know this is so. Unfortunately there is nothing to stop that sense of loss in the heart. I am glad you both met and became such good friends.

What would really take the sting out of it would be to see some family as soon as possible....haha.

I wish I could come over right now, but there are two things in my way, possibly three. Mulah, although I could charge it if I had to, but I don't have any vacation time but maybe two days - I took it all as sick days. Then I have the circulation in my legs issue - I am not sure if I could sit in coach for that lenth of time and 1st class is way to expensive. Any chance of catching a military flight or when you are by yourself, I would help fund you for a trip home, then all the family could see you and we could have a big get together. If I can come it will be next year and pray I stay well! I would love to see your home, but more importantly, I want to see you and so does everyone else!

It is hard to see the people that are important in our lives leave, even if it is only going to be a few days. It is even harder when the next time you'll see them is undetermined. Amazing how we can become so close with some people in such a short time...

I would say your friend was just as lucky to have met you and I'm sure she'll miss you as much.
I hope you find a way to stay in touch :-)
